Today I want to discuss FEAR. FEAR of failure to be exact, and how can it hold you back?

When I look at my kids, they seem fearless. They are not yet afraid of trying something, and failing. They push right past it. It is really pretty incredible. And if they do fail, they get back up right away, and try again. I loved watching my little one learn to walk. 12 months old, and she was getting up, taking a few steps. Did she wobble?! Yes! Did she fall?! Yes! Did she keep trying?! Absolutely. Is she running with her big sisters and cousins now?! You bet.

And us as parents, do we allow our kids to stop when the going gets tough? When they lose a game? Miss the shot? The math gets hard? No way!! They need to get back on that horse right?!

When do we as adults lose that ability to bounce back quickly? Kids are pretty incredible that way. It is definitely a lesson we can learn from our kids.

How can fear of failure hold us back? As adults when approached with something new, that poses any potential risk of failing, we clam up. Make excuses. It stops us dead in our tracks. Like this blog for instance! You guys… I had all the of the reasons running through my head as to why I shouldn’t do this.

What do you have to share that’s different? You don’t have any different value to provide. You aren’t a great writer. This is going to take a long time to build. Is it worth it? You know what I did when I heard all of these things, I sat down, and wrote another post because I know that I have value to provide. I am not going to let fear of failure, fear of what other people think, stop me.

And do you know what happens when we miss that step? We miss out on the incredible chance to change ourselves, to change course. To GROW. Shouldn’t our goal be to continue to challenge ourselves?

I challenge us all to push past the fear of failing. To do something that makes us feel uncomfortable, and grow. Growth happens outside of our comfort zones. That is where we really will become our best selves. Do the thing that scares you!

What is your one thing you can do this week? I would love to hear it!
