When you start a side hustle with Rodan+Fields, you don’t do it because you are bored, have all this free time on your hands, and think that you need to fill it. Nope. Usually it is because there is a financial desire that needs to be filled. You see that opportunity as the vehicle to get you there. But what happens once you push that enroll button? You may be wondering… now, how do I make money?

I get asked this question frequently. From a 5 year veteran, it is possible, here’s how.

First, I have to share this disclaimer… this is my personal experience and story. Results are very individually based, and don’t come without hard work. This is a business after all, right? If you are a motivated individual, I have no doubt that you will find success, but you have to be in it for the long haul. For more detailed information regarding income, you may check out Rodan+Fields IDS here

When I first started my Rodan+Fields business, I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. We had company resources, but nothing like we have now. New consultants are so lucky! There is so much company support, that even if you had a very quiet, inactive sponsor, you can still find success!

First You Need To.

Invest in your business to start. If you were opening a brick and mortar franchise, like a Starbucks, you can expect to have paid over $200K just to get the doors open. That is absolute insanity. But to start a business with the number 1 skincare brand in North America (Rodan+Fields) it is less than $1000. That makes it sound way more doable, right? The 4 investment options range in price from $45 up to $995 (US). Let’s say that you go all in on the largest business kit of $995 because you are a serious business builder and that only makes the most sense.

You are here to serve.

It is no surprise or secret that a great way to market your brand, and connect with people is on social media. There are so many opportunities to meet people outside of your immediate geographical bubble. A business like this is very much a numbers game, the more people you talk to and share with, the more likely that you will connect with someone who has an interest in what you have to offer. But you don’t want to be a running infomercial about your business. That is the fastest way to turn someone off.

This business is very much about relationships and serving people, making a personal connection with someone. You are more than just your business. Likewise, you can’t expect to make a post, and have potential clients and customers fall from the sky. You must realize that there are a combination of factors that play into one’s success, make the commitment to go all in.

One more thing.

Before we dive into a few specifics… you have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. There may be things that you will be coached to do that may feel strange, it is just because you have never done anything like this before. Rest assured, you aren’t being asked to rob a bank or do any type of heavy lifting. You also shouldn’t be asked to do anything that your upline hasn’t done themselves. There is a method and reason for the madness.

Just make the commitment to be coachable, for at least 60 days (because there is a 60 day money back guarantee in place, you can return the entire kit if you decide it is not for you, what other business gives you that option?!), and see what you can do. Run with the opportunity. You might surprise yourself.

Step 1: Develop your why.

You started your business for a reason. Hold on to that as close to your heart and mind as possible. You saw what this business could do for you, how it could change your life, and use that as your driver. Resilience is a trait that must be learned in this business where rejection is a daily occurrence. Your belief in yourself, the products, and this business opportunity is what will carry you throughout your entrepreneurial journey. Write it down. Keep it close everyday.

Step 2: Create your list.

Your list is the lifeline of your business. Who do you know that has skin? Lots of people right?! One of the beauties of a skincare business. Who do you know could benefit from an extra stream of income? Go through the contacts on your phone, social media contacts, write them down in groups of 5 or 10. As you make more connections your list will grow, and write those new names down.

Don’t prejudge anyone because who you assume will support you won’t, and those you think won’t support you will. The majority of my customers are people that I have never met in person but connected with on social media.

Step 3: Craft your story.

Who are you? What do you do, why did you join? How will this help you? This is a component of your why. What makes you excited? Sharing with enthusiasm is key. No one wants to join something that sucks. Make sure you share confidently. This is where “fake it till you make it” comes into play. People don’t buy or join in to something because of what you are selling, they join because of WHY you are selling it.

Step 4: Set your goals.

What are you looking to attain with your business? How much would you like your first paycheck to be? Then what do you need to get there? I like to set goals 2 different ways. One from a business building activity perspective, how many people will I reach out to each day? The second, from a monthly results based perspective. From day 1, each month my goal was to gain 5 new customers, and 2 new business partners. I still use this as a growth guideline.

Attrition is a real thing in this business, customers leave, business partners don’t ever start, and you must always be adding that NEW volume. Check out my daily activity tracker as a way to set daily action goals here.

Also, our company has a fast start program called Ignite in place for new consultants, plugging into that is the best way to guarantee that success is met quickly. Sell your first regimen to a customer, earn a $20 bonus. Sell 3 lash boost, or 2 Redefine regimens, and 2 gauze pads, earn a $100 RF product cash bonus.

Achieve our first promotion, you will earn a $100 cash bonus, and an invitation to an exclusive training. These bonuses are on top of the commission that is earned from the sale.

Step 5: Just start sharing.

There is no reason to overcomplicate this business. Our job is to share with people the products, and business opportunity. That is it. Set your business launch (this is your grand opening). Make a social media post, and just start running with this opportunity. You can go as fast or as slow as you would like, but trust me, fast is more fun. If you are looking for a day in the life of a working mom, and Rodan+Fields business owner, check out this previous post here.

I hope this made the thought of starting your own Rodan+Fields business less daunting. It is truly possible to find success if you make that decision to commit. If you are thinking this is it, I would love to jump on the phone and really dive in with you! Check out my calendar for availability here. Looking forward to it.

Until next time, much love my friends,
